New Beginnings
I started this blog to document my time studying abroad at Queen’s University Belfast in the fall of 2017. It was my first time living outside of the country, my first time traveling to places I had always dreamed of going to. I made lifelong friendships, memories, and lessons.
If you know me, you know I’ve been trying to find my way back to Europe. This past year, upon graduating with a Bachelors from Illinois College, I decided to take a year off before re-applying for grad school. It was a tough decision, especially considering my plan from the start of undergrad was always to go directly into a graduate program.
I’m grateful for that year off, because it made me realize what I value and what path I want to take in life. I should have known that it would lead me back to Ireland.
So, in case you couldn’t tell where this is going, I have recently accepted an offer from University College Cork’s Master’s in Creative Writing program. It still feels surreal; the thought of going back to Ireland and studying has bounced around my head for the past few years and now it’s actually so close.
The program starts in September. I can’t wait to see where it takes me, how I will grow from this experience, and how living in Ireland will fuel my passion for writing and life.
Talk soon.
